It was a battle of goaltenders for more than 70 minutes on Friday, as the Idaho Falls Spud Kings just barely outlasted the defending Dineen Cup Champion South Shore Kings by a score of 1-0 off a Ronald Wade goal at the 16:00 mark of overtime. He was assisted on the goal by Leo Mantenuto and Sammy Grimaldi.
Goaltenders Beau Lane and Charlie Durkin were absolutely stellar for their teams, with Lane making 38 saves on 39 shots, and Durkin stopping all 33 he faced for his second playoff shutout.
The Spud Kings get back at it on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the No. 2 Northern Cyclones vs. No. 3 Mercer Chiefs game.
